La enfermedad de Crohn causa con inflamación en el tubo digestivo, que provoca la formación de úlceras en cualquier lugar del mismo, desde la boca hasta el ano.
Los síntomas incluyen cólicos estomacales y dolor que aparece y desaparece, diarrea y sangre en su materia fecal. Otros síntomas incluyen bajar de peso, molestias estomacales.
Su diagnostico se dificulta debido a que sus síntomas son similares a otras enfermedades del tubo digestivo.
Es más común en personas de 20 a 30 años de edad.
CAUSAS
La enfermedad de Crohn puede ser hereditaria; hasta un 20 por cien de las personas con enfermedad de Crohn tienen un pariente con la enfermedad u otra enfermedad inflamatoria del intestino
Otra causa puede ser el sistema inmunitario, este parece confundir las bacterias benignas y los alimentos como “invasores”, por lo que los ataca, haciendo que los glóbulos blancos se acumulen en la mucosa de los intestinos. Esta acumulación produce hinchazón y daño intestinal. Este problema en el sistema inmunitario puede ser una causa de la enfermedad, pero también puede ser una consecuencia.
Otras causas podrían ser: La genética personal Y factores ambientales.
COMPLICACIONES
La enfermedad de Crohn puede causar un bloqueo intestinal.
El bloqueo ocurre cuando la pared intestinal se engrosa o hincha debido a la inflamación y el tejido cicatricial.
Las úlceras pueden causar la formación de túneles en las áreas inflamadas del intestino o incluso en las partes sanas. Estos túneles se llaman fístulas. A veces pueden formarse algunos sacos de infección, llamados abscesos, en las fístulas y alrededor de éstas. Las fístulas se pueden tratar con medicina, pero algunas veces se requiere una cirugía.
Reduce la asimilación de nutrientes
Otros problemas que sufren algunas personas con enfermedad de Crohn son
- artritis
- problemas en la piel
- inflamación en los ojos o la boca
- piedras en los riñones
- piedras en la vesícula
TRATAMIENTO
Las metas del tratamiento son
- ayudar con la inflamación
- corregir los problemas nutricionales
- aliviar síntomas como dolor abdominal, diarrea y sangrado rectal
El tratamiento puede incluir
- medicamentos
- minerales y vitaminas
- cirugía
- apoyo nutricional
DIETA
No ha sido determinado que algún alimento en particular cause daño o inflamación al intestino. Sin embargo, cuando las personas padecen enfermedad de Crohn, los siguientes alimentos pueden empeorar la diarrea y el dolor abdominal:
- las especias picantes
- el alcohol
- los alimentos grasosos
- algunos productos lácteos
